FAQ
Questions From the Garage
Can I really apply this myself with a roller?
Yes. A short-nap solvent-safe roller and a cheap chip brush for corners will do a trailer frame in an afternoon. It is thicker than paint, so expect to work it, not float it. Spraying with a hopper or undercoating gun is faster on big or complicated shapes.
Do I have to grind off every bit of rust first?
No — that is half the point. Remove anything loose or flaky with a wire wheel, degrease, and coat right over the tight brown surface rust. The film seals out water and oxygen, which stops the reaction. Shiny bare metal just needs a scuff.
How much do I need?
Figure 50–80 square feet per gallon kit at working thickness. A single-axle utility trailer frame is usually one gallon; a truck frame or big tandem trailer runs two to three. Send us dimensions and we will do the math before you order.
How long before I can use the thing I coated?
Dry to the touch in about ten minutes, light use the same day, and full toughness at 24 hours. Do not pressure-wash or drag chains across it until the full cure.
How long will it actually last?
Applied over decent prep, treat it as permanent. It will not flake, bubble or wash off. In direct sun the black film can fade toward brown over the years — cosmetic only. High-wear spots like a bucket lip may eventually wear through and can simply be recoated.
I run a shop — can I buy wholesale or apply it as a service?
Both. We set up farm stores and repair shops with wholesale kit pricing, and we help shops with air compressors add spray-applied rust protection as a paid service. Use the contact form and mention your shop.
